Hello and welcome!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the Gilbert and Sullivan society - a two-shows-a-year performance society whose emphasis is on having great fun whilst putting on a brilliant show!

The first show we are doing this year will be Ruddigore - performed in Central Hall on 14th - 16th February 2008. If you fancy being in the cast, part of the orchestra or part of the backstage and technical crew then come along to the first rehearsal and meet the directors and the rest of the society.

The first rehearsal is Thursday 18th October in L/036 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm approximately. As it is the first rehearsal there will be a mixture of singing and fun and games so everyone can get to know each other and generally have a good time!

If you haven't already done so, have a look at our website (www.gsyork.co.uk), which our webmaster (Mike) has worked long and hard on. Not only is it stunning in black but it will, more importantly, contain dates and useful notes (such as the details of Ruddigore itself) from now on - so keep watching for updates!

Also come and join our Facebook group - full of members past and present, it's a useful forum for chatting and keeping an eye on events and rehearsal details.

Many of you will be happy to know that to become a chorus member requires no auditions. However, if you do want to play a principal role, auditions will be held on the weekend of week 3. The directors will explain more about these in the first and second rehearsal - so if you're interested in getting a principal part.

Whatever role you want to play in the production of Ruddigore 2008 or if you're simply curious about what it is we do, then come along to the first rehearsal on Thursday and find out!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
